We will explore some of the possibilities of a “human” future that may not be too far away. In some ways it’s already here.
The January meeting of the UUC Humanist Group will be Sunday, January 19th at 12:30 p.m. in the Octagon. Our speakers will be Vicki Klapper and myself. As always, we will go to lunch at Carrabba’s following the meeting. Please join us and continue the conversation.
Also, if you haven’t already purchased your tickets for Darwin Day, to be held this year on Saturday, February 8th, see Mark Brandt or go online. Here’s the link: https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/4461908. Cost per ticket is $25.00, plus a service charge for online purchase.
This year’s Darwin Day speakers will be addressing the evolution of morality. Douglas Mann, PhD is from Ohio University, has done extensive research on the science of the evolution of morality and will share with us the insights of his work. Amanda Poppei lives in Washington, D.C. and since 2008 is leader of the Washington Area Chapter of the American Ethical Union. She is also a UU minister. With the moral challenges we observe and experience each day, this Darwin Day program will help us understand how evolution affects our modern culture.
